So normally I don’t do this but I am so disgusted right now that I am asking people to share this post in hopes that this company gets recognized for the scam it is.

I had an interview today in St. Louis at 1010 Market St suite 590. The company is called Fields Data Recovery. They recover your lost data from hard drives SD cards etc. So the interview is going well then Sean who interviewed me starts going over objections of price. He says when the customer asks about costs he is going to say “I have seen this problem before and it can cost anywhere between $400 to $500 but I can’t guarantee it.” He then says “But we are a capitalist society so I know I’m going to charge them at least $1400. How do you feel about that?” I looked at him and as like are you being serious. So you want me to tell people that it can be $400 to $500 so they will send their items in and then I will charge them a minimum of $1400. I can’t do that that is wrong.

Needless to say I didn’t get a job offer. This is what gives sales people a bad name. I am going to lie to you to get what I want and take advantage. This disgusts me. I mean I’m not perfect but I won’t knowingly lie to get what I want. I hope people see this and don’t use there services it is a complete SCAM!!!

Negative Customer Reviews

"Absolutely HORRIFIC service. Please AVOID. I repeat...DO NOT USE their service. In the beginning my primary contact, Eric Keck, was pleasant. Constant contact through the entire troubleshooting effort. However, once I paid $1800 for the raid recovery, he would not respond to my emails or phone calls and I had not received my data or hard drives in over 3 weeks. After several attempts, Mr. Keck finally answered one of my calls and had the audacity to tell a paying customer (i.e., me), "Why are you hounding me? You will get the drives when you get them." Well, I finally got my hard drives back today (after 2 months) and I just wanted to share the condition and the level (lack) of respect this company has towards their customers. The image below shows the condition I received my 4 hard drives, in a beaten up previously used amazon box which by the way someone could have placed a hand in and taken the hard drives. The initial pleasant they portray ends after you pay and have your data. I repeat..yet again...please AVOID Data Field Recovery."

"I always read reviews before I work with a company and why I didn't this time, has now haunted me. I sent off a SD card that had my daughter's first steps, first photos, etc., on it. They were great at the start and made me feel really good about using them. Cost at the beginning seemed great. After the initial assessment of the card, they then wanted many hundreds more and possibly then many more hundreds. I told them to send back my card and take no further action with it. Now, customer service has been next to none and my card is somehow lost "in the mail". I've been told to contact the USPS. LOL. I highly doubt it was ever shipped off. Now, even if there was a chance to save my photos for a reasonable price, I cannot! Heartbreaking!!!!!!!!!!"

"I don't typically write reviews, but I thought this time was necessary to prevent anyone else from dealing with this company. I'm a graduate student and sent my external hard drive to Fields Data Recovery after it started making some clicking noises. All of my research data was on the drive and when I called, they made some very convincing claims of repairing my drive for costs around $200-500. After they received my drive I was assigned to "Adam Sheppard" who did not communicate regularly, unless I made the call. Also, they expect you to pay half the cost (~$400-500 non refundable!!) upfront, saying that their engineers are "performing risky procedures." They were fast to take the payment and didn't even supply a receipt or payment confirmation until I called and asked. When they failed to repair/recover anything, it took over a month to send back, with NO repair report. In addition, my hard drive was sent back outside of the case!! Please do your research on reliable data recovery companies and don't settle for this company from the initial "panic" of hard drive failure. They pay a lot of money to advertise themselves at the top of the google searches."

"I sent two failed external hard drives to Fields Data Recovery in May. My initial quote was for $200-800. They contacted me a couple weeks later with a $700 quote for one drive and a $800+ quote for the other drive, with no guarantee ($400 up front and at least $400 after they recovered the data IF they could). So I paid for the $700 drive and they sent me a new drive with the data they recovered (June at this point). Problem is, I can't see any data on the drive, only empty folders. I am also concerned that I did not get my other drive back (the one with the $800 quote). I call countless times trying to get my drive back, no one is ever available to talk to me about my account when I call. I have had 5 appointments where a rep is supposed to call me and virtually take over my computer to see if she can figure out why I cant see any of the files they recovered. She never calls!! I end up calling her and she is always unavailable. She was supposed to call me today, but again nothing. I just called and wanted to speak with a supervisor, but they were unavailable and the person I spoke with could not give me any info about "my account". I am getting the run around, its August at this point! Never waste your money on this company!!"

"Signed up for a free quote only to be called 4 times over the next couple hours after explaining I was at work and couldn't talk. Seems more like a telemarketing company than anything else. Also the quote I got was $400- $800, at that rate you might as well just go with DriveSavers instead. DO NOT ask for a quote unless you want to be bombarded with calls!"

"I sent both a SD card and a hard drive into them and BOTH times was the exact same cost, which I didn't do either one because it was outrageous. They wanted $400 up front that was non-refundable for non-guaranteed results and $400 for the data IF they recovered data, which they only have a 70% recovery rate according to their quote. Then they (Adam Sheppard) stop responding to emails if you don't want to pay the money for the service, he is rude on the phone, and they take over a month to send back your drive! This is a major SCAM! Avoid it!"

"All of these terrible reviews are true and accurate. I expressed my apprehension to "Adam Sheppard" before agreeing to their $440 fee to recover my data in "15-20 business days". He assured me they "took steps to fix the issues in question", said there was a high likelihood they would recover my data, and said their rating on Trust Pilot is 8.2. I decided to give them a chance. After, 22 business days, I still had not heard from them. Then, I had to badger "Adam Sheppard" to get a response. Finally, they told me they couldn't recover the data. This company is a complete scam."

"Sent in two really bad drives. One they claimed they didn't work on. It was opened, and not put back together correctly further decreasing the ability of another company to try and fix it. The drive they did recover was still missing a lot despite "100% recovery"
